STAVORDALE PRIORY – Charlton Musgrove

The stunning garden home of Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Michael Le Poer Trench. The priory, built originally in the 13th century, was converted to a private house at the dissolution of the monasteries and was restored and extended in the early 20th century. The garden combines both formal and naturalistic styles.  There is an exceptional kitchen garden and an interesting folly.

A three acre garden, home of Lucilla Nelson, High Sherriff of Somerset. A relatively new garden designed under the influence of Gertrude Jekyll, with interlocking curves and circular lawns, succession planting, a quiet rill garden, a lake and interesting flowering trees. Set on a south facing sunny slop on acid soil, so plenty of camellias and rhododendrons.
