My mother grew flowers and vegetables and I used to follow her around the garden as a child, so I guess this is how my passion for gardening started. In 1998 I went to Reaseheath College of Horticulture where I studied Garden Design and an RHS Level 2 qualification.
As a committee member of The Cottage Garden Society I have been involved in displays at flower shows at RHS Tatton and BBC Gardeners World Live over the last 12 years and I have also been the Editor and a committee member for the Hardy Geranium Group (part of The Hardy Plant Society). Although my garden is quite modest it is filled with perennials to bursting point, and along with my husband David we have opened our garden for the National Garden Scheme since 2015.
My love of Geraniums started when I was newly married and had my first real garden. Hardy geraniums were such good doers, flowering for many weeks and months, with no real problems. I then discovered Margery Fish, her garden and books. I follow her words with enthusiasm ”When in doubt plant a Geranium!”
Sue will be bringing a selection of hardy geraniums to sell on the evening.
