The outings group is organising a day trip on Thursday September 4th to Gasper
Cottage and Forest Lodge gardens. This will be a full day coach trip to include
refreshments at both gardens and a pub lunch.
Gasper Cottage is situated in Gasper Stourton village near Warminster and is
surrounded by a 2 acre garden with stunning rural views. The garden has been
created by the artist owner Bella Hoare and combines colour, form and texture
whilst showing a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. There are
dense borders of mixed perennials and shrubs interspersed with numerous
hardy and tender annuals. The garden also contains a meadow orchard, a forest
garden and a wildlife pond. The owners have strongly advised that the garden is
unfortunately not suitable for disabled visitors or visitors with mobility
problems..
Forest Lodge is just a short drive away and is situated in Pen Selwood. It is a 3
acre mature country garden with a beautiful lake and open to the surrounding
farmland and landscape. There is good all year round interest, part formal with
a pleached hornbeam alley and rill and part water garden. There is wheelchair
access to the front garden only however, much of the garden can be seen from
there.
