When Christina moved to Dyffryn Fernant in 1994, the house and nearly 6 acres had been a holiday cottage for 17 years and was a complete shambles. The land was overgrown with bracken, brambles, blackthorn and Japanese knotweed. Crumbling farm buildings contributed old concrete and asbestos waste to the mix.
“The garden you see today, and that you visited in 2019, has very slowly evolved since arriving here. I am untrained, either in horticulture or the arts, and have developed my interest and skills through reading, practice, a sense of adventure and experimentation and without a fear of failure. After all, I was only doing this for myself, because I wanted to and because I loved it.”
In this talk, Christina hopes to show the challenging conditions she faced during the 25 year evolution of the garden.
