Lecture: The University of Bristol Botanic Garden – Nicholas Wray

Nicholas (Nick) Wray FLS, AH(RHS), FCIHort, MHort(RHS).

Nicholas Wray is a professional horticulturist who has worked at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden for over forty years. He has travelled widely studying plants in the wild, particularly the flora of South Africa. In 1992 he became a co-presenter on BBC Gardeners’ World working for three years alongside Geoff Hamilton. In 2002 he became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and in 2016 was awarded the prestigious RHS Associate of Honour and Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London awards. He is responsible for curating, interpreting and maximising the civic value of the University of Bristol Botanic Garden, which is the first new university botanic garden in Britain for over forty years. He lives in Bristol with his wife Lisa, two grown up children, and has a modest size garden and glasshouse where he grows an eclectic range of plants.
