Helen is the third generation of the Picton Family to run Old Court Nurseries and The Picton Garden in Colwall near Malvern. Having trained in Botany at the University of Reading she returned to the nursery in 2009 and was then joined in 2014 by her husband Ross Barbour. Together they look after the Plant Heritage National Collection of autumn flowering asters and continue to develop the 1.5 acre garden. In 2014 she co-authored ‘The Plant Lovers Guide to Asters’ with her father Paul.
