Lecture: The Bishop’s Palace Gardens, Past, Present and Future – James Cross

Monday, 17 April 2023 at 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm

I will be talking about The Bishops Palace Gardens, Past, Present and Future. I have been very busy with my team since I last came to Fagus in 2018, there will be lots of exciting new projects to discuss and look at, as well as a reminder of the blank canvas that I started with in 2004. The gardens consist of 14 acres and we have developed them to contain a rich and diverse mix of picturesque, English garden style and contemporary plantings that complement the medieval backdrop of the palace and cathedral. Before starting at The Bishops Palace, I worked for five years at The National Trust’s – The Courts Garden in Wiltshire. I trained at Hadlow College and was fortunate to do my practical training at The National Trust’s – Sissinghurst Castle Gardens and Sheffield Park.
