This garden in deep West Somerset is opening for the first time under the auspices of the N.G.S.
Rowden is situated between Monksilver and Stogumber, in a very quiet and secluded location and is very much a work in progress. Yew box hedges provide some formality. Herbaceous borders, shrubbery and rose arbour leads to a small walled kitchen garden. The rockery and small bog garden are recent additions. There is a 5 acre lake which provides wildlife interest – a walk around the lake should provide sightings of tufted ducks, little grebes, swallows, and house martins.
Steep steps and deep water are among the hazards that visitors should be aware of!
Teas will be available. Proceeds go to five worthy charities.
Full details of the garden and directions can be found on the NGS website.
Admission £4.50 – children free.
