Visit to the gardens at Rooksnest and Malverleys, Berkshire.

Wednesday, 28 June 2023 at 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Both gardens we are visiting have featured in the English Garden/ Gardens Illustrated magazines

Rooksnest is a garden of approximately 10 acres of exceptionally fine traditional English garden, mostly designed by Arabella Lennox-Boyd.

It comprises a rose garden (redesigned in 2017), herbaceous gardens, a pond garden, a fruit, vegetable and cutting garden and glasshouses.  There are many specimen trees, fine shrubs, and an orchard. There will be light refreshments available to purchase e.g., sandwiches and ploughman’s or you can take a picnic.

The garden will also be open on that day for the NGS, although being a large garden this should not be a problem.  In fact, it means that the entry cost is less than for a private visit and there will be caterers on site selling morning coffees and lunch.

This garden is mostly accessible with surfaces of gravel and mowed grass.

Malverleys, a dynamic 10-acre garden has been developed over the last 11 years to include magnificent mixed borders and a series of yew hedge rooms hosting flame borders, a cool garden, a pond garden and a new stumpery.  There is a walled garden with vegetables, striking fruit cages and a white garden.

There are some stone steps and some uneven paths. The garden requests that any photographs taken of buildings or sculpture are not posted on Social Media.

Tea or coffee will be provided & we will leave at approx. 4.30 to be back in Nailsea for 6 pm.

The cost for this trip is £48pp. Booking forms can be downloaded here (docx) or a PDF version here

Due to problems with access for 49 seater coaches to Malverleys, we have had to book a smaller, 37 seater coach so places will be limited to 37
