BOURTON HOUSE & KIFTSGATE COURT

The Outings Committee are pleased to announce that we are organising a one day, coach trip to Bourton House and Kiftsgate on the 25th June, 2024.

Bourton House garden is very large & varied with wide herbaceous borders, deep mixed borders of shrubs, annuals, and perennials  both hardy and tender. There is a shade house and a potager plus a damp border with lots of topiary.

Kiftsgate Court is on a spectacular site on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment. The garden was created in the 1920s by the grandmother of the present owner, continued by her mother and now looked after by herself & her husband.  The upper garden is close to the house to create a harmonious colour scheme. The lower garden has many unusual plants and shrubs: tree peonies, abutilons, hydrangeas and variety of species and old fashioned roses.  Recently a wildflower meadow  and orchard have been developed.

We will leave Nailsea at 8.30am in the morning and travel straight to Bourton House.  Upon arrival teas and coffees and biscuits will be served. At the same time we will be given a short talk about Bourton House and the garden.  You will be free to explore the gardens until 1.00 p.m. when we will be served a sandwich lunch, before boarding the coach for the journey to Kiftsgate.  This should take about half an hour.

You will have the afternoon to explore this beautiful and interesting garden until teas and cakes are served at 3.45 p.m., before boarding the coach for our return journey.  We anticipate returning to Nailsea by 6.00 p.m.

The cost of the outing is £60.00 per person, which incudes transport, all refreshments and lunch plus the entrance to both gardens.

If you wish to join us on this trip to two lovely gardens please use the Fagus Outings booking form and either post it to Sara Willmott along with a cheque or email it paying by BACS.
